I can’t often enough point out how unpredictable Enrico’s Hitlist can be! Wasn’t I just saying last week that Chris Malinchak who stormed to the Number 2 spot with ‘So Good To Me’ was potentially the next big thing in my charts?! Looking at this week’s Top 20 – he slumps down to the 5th spot again where he entered 3 weeks ago! Instead Avicii climbs up two positions to take his place instead. Most notable new entry this week however goes to Taylor Swift with ‘State Of Grace’. I went out on Friday night and thanks to Shazaam (yet again!) I tracked down this tune. I’m actually surprised that there’s no video to it as it’s quite a catchy song!!

Another new entry which might catch your eye is (probably one of the most loved & hated people on this planet) Justin Bieber with a song called ‘Beauty And A Beat’ in collaboration with Nicki Minaj! I saw the video clip during the week and after like a minute or so the song really got to me. I think it’s a very clever video and another yet catchy song as well which captures the summer mood everyone is in right now perfectly well! And on that note I hope everyone is doing well out there and enjoying following Enrico’s Hitlist!

And another two new songs fail to de-throne ‘Feel Again’ by One Republic who’s been the dominant force in Enrico’s Hitlist for an 9 consecutive weeks! This mens it’s already progressed to a tied 8th position with Kelly Rowland & David Guetta and their smash hit from 2009 ‘When Love Takes Over’ for occupying the number 1 spot!

Colour of the week looks more red (for downfall) rather then blue (for improving). And the ownly two blues this week are fantastic new entries. Highest new entry is Mika & Arianas Grande’s ‘Popular Song’ which was still not popular enough to become the next Number 1 Hit! A very catchy song even with a bit of summer feel to it!

Who doesn’t remember X-Factor and the incredibly talented – I know that’s debatable – Lucy Spraggan? To be honest I almost forgot about her until I came across this song this week. For most of the past seven days it looked like a solid second position but in a last minute entry surprise by the above mentioned ‘Popular Song’ she ‘only’ manages to sneak to Rank 3 with her debut single ‘Lighthouse’ yet another ‘light’ summer feel song!

It certainly has been a good week for One Republic, even though they’re not on the top spot. That honour goes to Misha B for a second week in a row with her smash hit single ‘Do You Think Of Me’.

However, two new entries for the American Pop band and now two Top 10 positions shows the great talent/potential this group has. ‘Feel Again’ gained a position to climb onto the 3rd rank and ‘I Lived’ becomes this weeks highest new entry at Number 4!  It’s a great new song in Enrico’s Hitlist. The best video I found was a lyric one but since it’s all about music anyway who cares about the moving images, if the sound it is what counts right?!

A surprise re-entry for Neon Genesis Evangelion and the opening theme which is becoming more and more a classic with regular appearances in the Top 20 for the past 13 years! Having spent 66 weeks in the charts since Week 1 back in 2001 (!) it currently occupies Rank 19 in the All-Time Top 100. It is a great pop song to one of the greatest animated TV-Series! Hands down! I think I’ve mentioned this in one of my previous posts that the Japanese do know how to do this stuff!!!

Apologies first for being so late, but as I always say: Better late than never! Misha B can hold onto the top spot for another week with her smash hit ‘Do You Think Of Me’ whilst Mika seems to be stuck with his ‘Popular Song’ at the second position.

I shall keep it short since it’s quite late already! As you can see not much has happened in the top rankings besides a bit of shuffling around! Highest new entry this week goes to Eliza Doolittle and her newest single called ‘Big When I Was Little’ which is her third single in Enrico’s Hitlist! Pretty catchy easy listening to kind of song!

The second highest entry this week goes to a song which has been in my iTunes for a while but for some reason never made an impact before until now! I think judging by the video it has something to do with this animated movie called ‘Cars’ but I will investigate that further once I have more energy to do so! Until then enjoy this weeks Top 20 with ‘Life Is A Highway’ – a very rock themed song – unusual for Enrico’s Hitlist!!!

If it wouldn’t have been for the new entries from Jessie J, Savage Garden, The Saturdays and Rascal Flatts, this week would have had almost 20 non-movers which has been very rare in Enrico’s Hitlist over the past 13 years! Nonetheless 2013 has its 14th Number 1.

And Jessie J has done it again. ‘It’s My Party’ is her second top spot after her big success with ‘Domino’ last year which became the fifth most successful song of 2012! Well done Jessie J! And oh my god, what a party tune this one is!

The second highest ‘new’ entry of the week goes to Savage Garden. It is yet another example for one of Enrico’s surprise discoveries. I’ve probably heard this one back in 2000 when it was originally released, but for some reason it only got stuck in my head (well ears!) this week! Nevertheless enjoy this soothing song on this beautiful Sunday evening. And since it is a bank holiday weekend over here – there shall be a special update tomorrow evening!! Until then, have fun with this week’s Enrico’s Top 20! Not sure if you’ve noticed but this is the first week in a long time this year without any Eurovision or Glee entries!

Well there is obviously not much to explain about this Bank Holiday Special! It is showing you the Top 40 of 2013 so far. For those who aren’t up to speed yet – so far means – after 34 weeks! That’s right! It includes the week just gone.

Judging by the numbers – it looks like a tight tussle for Number 1 between Icona Pop and One Republic. I guess we have to wait and see what the next few weeks will have in store. I may also point out that the Glee Cast is having their worst year since introduction in 2010, even though they’re currently occupying 2 spots in the Top 10!

Country music – besides mainstream Pop and Eurovision – is still one of this years favourite music genres with Lindi Ortega & Hayden Panettiere on a pretty strong 7th and 8th position respectively. The last time country had such a big presence was in 2007 & 2008 thanks to the amazing Dolly Parton.

Below will by the Top 3 music videos relating to the above mentioned ranking of Enrico’s Top 40 so far. Enjoy!

Third week in a row and it is still celebration time for Jessie J as ‘It’s My Party’ remains Enrico’s Number 1 Hit. It can hold another new entry this week at number two! Shane Filan’s ‘Everything To Me’ having a great debut and just missing out narrowly to the top spot!

It’s been a while since UK band The Wanted had a hit in Enrico’s Hitlist. But week 36 ends the draught for the boys and their first appearance since ‘Lightning’. Rank seven this week for their latest single ‘We Own The Night’. On another note: Neon Genesis Evangelion got lucky and only dipped 4 ranks down to Number 16 this week with their infamous Anime ‘Opening Theme’, as Tokyo was awarded the 32nd Olympic Games in 2020 by the IOC in Buenos Aires, the second time after being host in 1964! I have to admit that the Japanese capital was my favourite to win against Turkish mega city Istanbul and Spanish capital Madrid. Well done Tokyo!

I actually would like to share a third song this week with you. Managing to re-enter ehcharts© at position number 12 it’s Romania’s Eurovision Entry from 2008 ‘P-eo Margine De Lume’. Nico & Vlad are the country’s 2nd most successful Eurovision Entry so far and ranked currently 47th in Enrico’s All Time Eurovision Songs. Nevertheless it is a beautiful song and surely would have done better if it hadn’t been out singing first in Belgrade back then.

Week 43 of this year has it all by the looks of it! Quite a colourful week, just judging from the ups and downs and re-appearances. Thumbs up of course to Nashville hit ‘Gonna Get Even’ by Aubrey Peeples as she manages to retain the top spot for a second week. She can hold off an attack from James Blunt who is shooting up to Number 2 this week with his debut single in Enrico’s Hitlist: ‘Bonfire Heart’. The song has a bit of similarity feel to Shane Filans ‘Everything To Me’ which was just recently in the Top 20, don’t you think?!

Well I don’t think it’s no longer a secret that I’m a massive Dolly Parton fan. And this week it has transpired that the queen of country music is touring the UK again next year. Fingers crossed my sources are correct. Anyway: ‘Shine Like the Sun’ had the honour of being constantly played on my iPod this past week and Dolly rightfully earned her way back in Enrico’s Top 20 at Number 7. There is just something about Dolly, her gift to write songs and translating most of it into something uplifting which always has the affect to motivate you!

Last but not least a blast from the past! Well not really, because the Dixie Chicks did appear with this song for the first time last year. By just looking at the youTube results and the lack of videos to this song it seems it is a much older song, than it actually is. ‘The Long Way Around’ was only recorded back in 2006, and apparently it was selected the 20th best song of that year by the Rolling Stone Magazine, which does make me wonder why there is no proper video to it. Nevertheless this is about music anyway and not so much about videos!! What a week eh?!

Better late than never right?! And right in front of you is the latest edition of Enrico’s Top 20! Dominating this week is without a doubt the US TV hit-show from ABC ‘Nashville’!! Not only does Aubrey Peeples remain on the top position for a fourth week in a row! Surprising factor to me this week is the amount of overflow of new entries, such as from the Nashville Cast, Connie Britton & Chris Carmack which just shows the incredible talent behind the scenes in producing amazing new songs! I hope you agree with me on this one!

First one up though is what I would almost call a come back after their sudden disappearance a few weeks ago. Of course I am talking about Swedish Pop sensation Icona Pop and their new entry ‘All Night’ replacing previous smash hit ‘I Love It’. Needless to say they did a brilliant job and rank five is a pretty good result given the dominance of Nashville this week!

Sticking to Sweden but not in this weeks Top 20 is a blast from the past is a song which entered Enrico’s Hitlist exactly 10 years ago!!! Nowadays I would even classify this one as a typical Eurovision Song! It is one of Sweden’s most successful performances and will go down in history as a so called classic! Sweden for some reason just knows how to do good pop music. However, their life performance does remind me a bit of the X-Factor!!!

Last but not least I should honour Robin Thicke, not with his 2013 sensational hit ‘Blurred Lines’ though! No! The honour goes to his Number 1 hit single – yes that’s right – ‘The Good Life’. Unfortunately there is no good video of it so far and the song is on the leaving the Top 20 pattern but I thought I owe it to you plus to end this weeks Top 20 on a positive note!

Enrico’s Hitlist Week 48 (25/11/2013-01/12/2013)

Scroll down for a few music links, as this week’s Top 20 is seeing a sudden comeback from an X-Factor contestant, winner and worldwide superstar! In a surprise last minute surge ‘One More Sleep’ is giving Leona Lewis her second number one single since her collaboration with Avicii ‘Collide’ kind of exactly 2 years ago! It has therefore been unlucky number 7 as Aubrey Peeples tumbles 1 position down to number 2 with the ‘Nashville’ smash-hit ‘Gonna Get Even’. Maybe She will get even next week having been the song to be for an incredible six weeks in a row! We surely will know more next week. And as you all know Christmas is just around the corner and another year of Enrico’s Hitlist reaches the end! It is just amazing how fast 2013 has gone by!

Personally ‘New Beginnings’ by Luminate which has gained quite a few positions this week is a perfect description about my life right now as I’m starting to get back into swim training again and I am changing companies! All exciting stuff going on right now. And therefore Gary Barlows ‘Let Me Go’ is another fitting tribute about my BCD departure after six years leaving a very valued client Warner Bros behind!

However the show must go on like Enrico’s Hitlist! Thanks for your loyalty and a happy first Advent!

The official Top 40 of Enrico’s Hitlist after completion of year 13 (!) are now in front of you

The list says it all and I have compiled the Top 10 videos in reverse order so you can all re-live the best songs of the year and perhaps re-vive some forgotten memories!

Despite being the Number 1 Song of 2013, it is unfortunately the lowest scored Top Spot for One Republic and ‘Feel Again’ as they merely accumulated 489 points to claim the crown. In a tight fight ‘Blurred Lines’ by Robin Thicke – one of the summer hits this year – manages to overhaul Icona Pop’s ‘I Love It’ to lead by only two points with 429 to 427 respectively.

Hayden Panettiere is probably the unluckiest artist of 2013 as she misses out of the Top 10 by an incredible single point and with a total tally of three songs in the Top 40! But for the time being just enjoy the music! More to follow for sure!!!

I can’t believe it’s already February! Time sure flies and it is another week in Enrico’s Hitlist with a lot of newcomers – well newcomers to me at least I should say. However it is another successful week for This Silent War with their calm and soothing song ‘We Are Broken’.

The Telephone Answering Machine Song or better known as ‘Hello, This Is Joanie’ has to give away another position and has moved into 3rd place this week to make room for the highest debut. ‘Eftir Eitt Lag’ by Greta Mjöll Samúelsdóttir is a potential entry for Iceland at this years Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen. If this get’s through the 12 points from the host nation Denmark are almost certain! I think it’s a very clever arrangement. Let me know your thoughts on this one.

Seems like Eurovision Fever has hit again early this year. Scandinavian nation Finland has chosen their song and ‘Something Better’ by Softengine has at least a good chance to make it to the Final! Albeit being a good song, it didn’t have the effect ‘Marry Me’ had last year when it became Finland’s first song to reach the Number One spot in Enrico’s Hitlist. Well you never know though!

I feel I never give enough credit to the bottom of the charts so I’ve decided to feature the 20th position – also a new entry – in this weeks video presentation! Looks like a lot of groups & artists becoming very creative with their names. Imagine Dragons doesn’t sound very inviting, unlike their song ‘On Top Of The World’ which finally managed to scrape into Enrico’s Hitlist!

Scottish born Emeli Sande had a pretty successful year in 2013 with her hits ‘Next To Me’ and ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’. 2014 goes off with a cracking start and a cover of the legendary song ‘Imagine’ which was used in a BBC documentary about the 2012 London Olympic Games. Rank seven for this beautiful tune which had previously success in Enrico’s Hitlist being covered by the Glee Cast! Simply enjoy

It has been one of those weeks and I am not going to fluff around a lot, as it is already pretty late. ‘We Are Broken’ – which featured in the US Drama TV-Series ‘The Fosters’ a couple of weeks ago – is still holding on strongly to the Top Spot for a 4th week in a row! So far only 44 (out of currently 301) songs have managed to stay longer than four weeks at number one, which means it’s a pretty great achievement for The Silent War.

However, a bit of focus now on some exciting new entries this week. The highest debut at number two goes to Ellie Goulding who makes a surprise ‘comeback’ after her success with ‘Anything Could Happen’! Her latest single ‘Goodness Gracious caught my attention a bit too late this week, otherwise it might have been Number 1. There is always next week though.

Closely following Ellie at number 3 is a singer called Natalie Cole and don’t ask me why, but I went through my Shazam Tags this week and got hold of ‘Wild Women Do’ which was featured in the movie classic ‘Pretty Women’ and I was totally hooked! The rest is history. Enjoy!!!

And now a blast from the past! Five years ago ‘You Can’t Stop The Beat’ performed by the Hairspray cast stormed to the top position in Enrico’s Hitlist. Although it only at the number one spot for a week it still managed to score 378 points in total in its 28 weeks chart appearance which is an incredible result for one of the most successful musical performances!

One more blast from the past comes in form of Cher’s re-entry this week. ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ managed to sneak in at number 16 but more for emotional reasons than for iTunes count. Regardless of that, it is still a great number (and therefore a deserved re-entry) done by a powerful women as the video demonstrates.

‘Goodness Gracious’ was probably going through Ellie Gouldings mind when she realised she wouldn’t make it to number 1 this week after being overtaken in a last minute move by Slovenian singer Natalija Verboten! ‘Ma Kje Si Ti’ becomes the 302nd Number 1 song to reach the top of Enrico’s Hitlist.

It is one of the songs you suddenly stumble across on YouTube purely by coincidence and it is one of those tunes instantly stuck in your head. Well it certainly got my attention especially since to me it is a pretty good mixture of pop, country, folk and schlager or short just a very easy listening track! The video is quite entertaining as well. As of this moment I think it will stick around for a while, but who knows!

Well, I guess I should also learn some ‘Slovene’ since Natalija Verboten has had another song entering Enrico’s Hitlist at Number 4 just missing out on the bronze medal position – sorry I couldn’t resist to make a reference to the Winter Olympics in Sochi! Nevertheless ‘Zapoj Slovenija’ was initially seen as the new Number 1 song this week, but lost some of its appeal during the week gone.

And since we are in Europe (I’m referring to Slovenia), I might as well give some attention to Spain’s representative at this years Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen/Denmark! ‘Dancing In The Rain’ representing Spain (read it out loud and it will make you smile too!) should be well perceived in the UK this year, given the shitty weather we had lately! However, it’s a second year in a row Spain has success in Enrico’s Hitlist with one of their entries, which is pretty rare. Not sure it will become a number one like last years ‘Contigo Hasta El Final’ by ESDM though Ruth Lorenzo is still a great entry despite some of the negative comments she already had.

What a lovely end to the week we had over here in the UK! It is therefore with no surprise that Natalija Verboten holds onto the top spot for another week with her summer ish song ‘Ma Kje Si Ti’. There were also a few Eurovision shuffles this week with Romania being the strongest contestant by pushing last weeks biggest gainer Ruth Lorenzo from Spain down one rank into third place.

We also have three new entries, which two of them I’d like to share with you! However due to the potential spoiler alert I will not show the Glee versions as it wouldn’t be fair. Nevertheless, the Glee Cast did produce a very good cover version of Wilson Phillips ‘Hold On’ and deserve to be this weeks highest entry on number four. The original -which gained popularity again after it was featured in the smash hit movie Bridesmaids – entered ehcharts in November 2011 where it stormed to number one! During its 16 weeks chart appearance so far it has scored 356 points which makes it the 85th most successful song in Enrico’s Hitlist as of today! Simply enjoy.

Well, change of plans! Sadly I did not find a good enough version of ‘Gloria’. I’m saying that, because so far Australian pop group The Young Divas achieved the biggest success in my charts with their cover version of this Italian hit originally sung by Umberto Tozzi and then famously commercialised by Laura Branigan! Regardless, I’ve decided to do one of my flashbacks and the Saturdays appeared today five years ago for the very first time with their Comic Relief song ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’, which funnily enough fits into this weeks new entries theme => cover songs, don’t you think? Despite being more successful than the original tune done by Depeche Mode – this version never made it to the top spot! Are you surprised as much as I am?!

It has been 853 days since Wilson Phillips stormed to number 1 with ‘Hold On’. And now 2 years, 4 months and 2 days later Glee climbs up to the top spot to become the 303rd number one in Enrico’s Hitlist with their very own brilliantly done version of this classic. For some who want do do the calculations. 21/11/2011 was when Wilson Phillips entered the Top 20. Though I might risk of being a spoiler to some of you, I have decided selfishly to present the Glee version to you and make up your own mind about this amazing tune.

The highest entry this week though belongs to Eurovision. It has been a while since we last saw a Dutch entry in the Top 20. ‘Calm After The Storm’ sung by the Common Linnets will be representing the Netherlands in Copenhagen in roughly two months time and I believe this song will do great, well I hope so. Some of you might recognise the female singer and yes Ilse De Lange has had an appearance in my charts back in 2008 with ‘So Incredible’.

Just looking at the ‘So Incredible’ video I actually see similarities to the de-throned Natalija Verboten’s video of ‘Ma Kje Si Ti’ which sadly loses the top position after 4 weeks being number one. Don’t you think so as well? Not necessarily the melody, but the theme, country style, guitar etc. Maybe it is just my crazy imagination. Despite that though, it is a great song!

Double Bill

We have a so called double bill this week, because I wasn’t able to give you an update last weekend, due to some unfortunate circumstances. Some of you might think being stranded in New York is fun, and sure enough there are worse places to be stuck at, but still it is very different than it would be as when it is a planned holiday! I will actually spare you the details of being diverted to Paris on my attempt to get back to London!

However on the more positive note, I got to see the city of (country) music and went to Nashville / Tennessee in the south of the USA and had an amazing weekend, which you might notice from the charts below  as that had quite an impact, more so in this current week’s Top 20!

First though I should start with a new number one which debuted in Enrico’s Hitlist on top last week. Pixie Lott managed to kick away Glee’s cover version of Wilson Phillips ‘Hold On’ after just one week on top and earned her first number one single with ‘Nasty’. She’s been seen previously in my charts with her smash hit ‘Kiss The Stars’ back in 2012.

And of course country music was bound to re-enter the charts having been to this fabulous city! Highest re-entry goes to Jo Dee Messina with her single ‘Heads Carolina, Tails California’ which actually finished in a decent 48th position in the 2013 year end charts. A fact which helped her being the highest re-entry is that it was played sung upon my request in the fantastic bar called ‘Honky Tonk Central’.

Another country related re-entry is Miranda Lambert’s ‘Baggage Claim’ which kind of fits with the ‘ordeal’ of having not been able to claim my luggage when I was stuck in New York City! Not sure who of you remembered a series called ‘Good Christian Bitches’ or short ‘GCB’ which aired on ABC a few years ago. It was featured in the beginning of the first episode showing some cool images of Dallas/Texas, which of course back in 2012 was reason enough for entering Enrico’s Hitlist!

This weeks charts are definitely more heavily influenced by country pop music, because I finally managed to track down some songs I heard last week whilst in Nashville! And of course I have to show you the next number one in Enrico’s Hitlist. ‘Stuck Like Glue’ stuck in my head ever since I heard it and now having seen the video even more! A pretty easy listening to tune which deserves the top spot. The video kind of reminded me of last year’s smash hit by Canadian singer Hayden Panettiere who rose to fame with ‘Telescope’. Do you agree?!

‘Downtown’ performed by the Glee Cast was surely influenced by me actually venturing into Downtown New York, which was despite being stranded fun of course. Strolling around Times Square, Chelsea, The Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and The Empire Building was amazing! However, due to not wanting to spoil anything I would like to present you the original song, which was a Number 1 Hit in my charts back in 2001! Petula Clark’s original song is one of those which is better than its various cover versions, but yet again Glee did a great job and rank 2 is obviously proof enough!

Last but not least for this week is Dolly Parton’s ‘Together You And I’! I actually went to the bridge in Nashville, where this video was filmed and it still kind of feels like a dream to actually have been there! I am sorry to be sentimental, but it was one of those things you had to tick of the bucket list and sure enough it re-entered the charts. It first was seen in summer of 2011 when the grand dame of country music promoted her album ‘Better Day’ and well what a day I had in Nashville!!!

Last weeks ‘surprise’ country-pop number one ‘Stuck Like Glue’ by Sugarland successfully defends the top position and fighting off two new entries at number two and three respectively!

Rita Ora who knows how to party according to last years single ‘How We Do (Party)’ managed to debut in Enrico’s Top 20 with her latest tune called ‘I Will Never Let You Down’. A very catchy pop song which I think will do very well – not just in my charts, but all over the world.

Disney has done it again. Do you remember a while ago when Tangled was high up in the ranks? This time it is music from the Oscar winning movie Frozen which I recently got to see on my flights to Nashville/Tennessee! But it’s not ‘Let It Go’ by Idina Menzel which entered at number 10 this week. Surprisingly enough it is the funny song called ‘Fixer Upper’ which is  performed by the Frozen Cast and a song I just can’t get out of my head. It almost ended up being number one this week, but due to it’s late entry it has to be satisfied with rank number three. My flatmate actually came to the conclusion that it has similarity to the Muppet’s ‘Fraggle Rock’ and I can certainly agree. Let me know if you can agree as well!

So after two years I finally decided to enter a swimming competition and went for the first time to Blackpool which lies on the coast Lancashire. During the lunch break they played some nice songs and one of them was Coldplay’s ‘Hurts Like Heaven’ which I never heard before. Immediately humming towards it in my head and feeling relaxed it had to enter this weeks Top 20 and surely did well enough at Number 13. An interesting video, I must say, which for some reason won’t display so I give you the youtube and soundcloud link. It is the groups first appearance since they were last seen in 2011 in Enrico’s Hitlist. Well done!

I haven’t done one of the blast of the past moments in a while and decided to do one today! The way the song works actually fits the Slovenian entry ‘Ma Kje Si Ti’ by Natalija Verboten which combines traditional country folk with modern pop music in a very catchy way and you immediately get drawn into it! Steve Mac entered Enrico’s Hitlist on the 13th of April 2009 with ‘Paddy’s Revenge’. It currently is ranked 859 out of 2090 songs having spent 3 weeks in the charts whilst scoring a total of 55 points.

Down Memory Lane

$

Another crazy week has gone by, not just music but also travel wise as you might notice below! Not only do I have a ‘new’ number one, I also travelled across Germany going down memory lane being in my hometown of Senftenberg/Brandenburg, where this whole chart concept began some 13.5 years ago!

This means, that this week I shall go into history based entries than this weeks ‘new’ ones, because it is much more fun I think! Though I would like to point out that it is very rare for a song to jump to the top sport after 8 weeks in the charts! Actually I think this never happened before! However Glee’s U2 cover version of ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ kind of sums up my feelings I’ve experienced travelling  across the nation I grew up in, having visited cities such as Hanover, Hamburg, Berlin and Munich.

The 4th of May has not produced a great deal of new entries over Enrico’s Hitlist existence, which means I will focus more on a few of the first few titles back in the first week of my charts! And the biggest applause goes to Manchester Pop group Urban Cookie Collective with their most successful hit ‘The Key: The Secret’! With 135 weeks chart presence it is the second longest running hit in the Top 20 and All Time Number 7 having spent 2 weeks at the top spot. In my point of view it is definitely a classic these days and as soon as you’ll watch it you surely you will dance or at least sing to it!

Another classic of course is Australians sensation Vanessa Amorosis’ ‘Absolutely Everybody’, the first ever officially mentioned Number One in Enrico’s Hitlist! Simple Lyrics and Simple Melody is all what it takes sometimes to bring the Olympic movement together after one of the most amazing Games ever. Of course I am talking about Sydney 2000! Despite that, you can barely deny that it is an amazingly catchy song and has therefore rightfully spent an incredible 38 weeks in the Top 20 to be currently listed at All Time Number 88!

Loona shouldn’t be missed out that year either, especially since Luv became the first Number 1 Hit that year with ‘You’re The Greatest Lover’. Never mind! ‘Latino Lover’ which obviously was a cover version still was a proper summer hit despite being ‘released’ and mentioned in Enrico’s Hitlist on the 1st of January 2001! A respectable 119 points have been collected in its 9 weeks appearance and a pretty memorable song to which I’ll leave you with this memory weekend!

Eurovision Fever Has Hit – AGAIN

$

Well, what can I say, besides the obvious: Eurovision has taken over (yet again) Enrico’s Hitlist and it is a second year in a row that Spain manages to succesfully climb up to Number 1 despite only coming tenth overall in this amazing contest which was viewed by almost 200 million people world wide. It took Ruth Lorenzo 11 weeks and last nights magnificent performance to sneak up to the Top Spot in what it’s now its twelve week, being one of the longest chart sitters so far. I am also still mezmerised with the incredible stage and the way it was featured. Well done Copenhagen. Well done Denmark!

A surprise entry comes from last years winner, Denmark’s very own Emmelie De Forest. She performed a mix of ‘Only Teardrops’ & ‘Rainmaker’ which finished in an amazing finale where all ESC participants joined in and the whole arena went mental singing along. This actually was a very emotional moment to me, as I just find it incredibly fascinating how so many different countries, cultures, races etc. celebrate which makes the Eurovision Song Contest to me kind of like the Olympic Games of Music, a peaceful movement which tries to overcome tensions such as between the Ukraine and Russia and even the boo’s came less and less. The Power of Music.

Hungary did make it to the Eurovision Final this year, however another song connected to this country entering at number 6 this week. ‘Budapest’ by George Ezra outshines a song called ‘Running’ which actually ranked very high last night in Copenhagen.

What a surprise result for The Common Linnets and ‘Calm After The Storm’ representing the Netherlands last night. They already featured in this years charts and after an incredible performance deserve a re-entry at Number 16 this week. Other Eurovision related re-entries to be seen this week are from Malta, Slovenia, Romania & Finland! What a week and what a night last night and thanks for tuning in!
